PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Battambang Rice Investment Co Ltd says it has been certified as the first rice mill in Cambodia with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
In a statement, the company said it received confirmation of GMP and HACCP certification in a letter dated Monday from the Vietnamese unit of German-based TUV Rheinland.
"The aim of BRICo is to raise the standard in term of quality, consistency, transparency, safety and hygiene as well as setting up the benchmark for the industry.
"Our next target is to get OHS and ISO certification," it said, referring to standards for Occupational Health and Safety and the International Organization for Standardization.
Established in 2012, BRICo is a joint venture between rice exporter Okhna Lim Bun Heng, insurance executive Youk Chamroeunrith and the Cambodia Lao Development Fund.
