Cambodian ambassador visits [Thai] Interior Minister to tighten relations

BANGKOK, 15 October 2014 (NNT) – Interior Minister Gen Anupong Paochinda has been visited by the Cambodian ambassador to Thailand who congratulated him on his new post and lauded the two countries’ long-standing friendship.

Mrs Eat Sophea, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the Kingdom of Thailand, today paid a courtesy call on Gen Anupong with a view to extending her congratulations on his recent appointment as Minister of Interior. At the same time, she voiced praise for the close relationship and cooperation between the two neighboring nations, whether in the area of culture, trade, labor or anti-drug and human trafficking efforts.

The Cambodian ambassador complimented Thai authorities for always treating Cambodian workers in Thailand with kindness and compromise and thanked the Thai government for facilitating them in registering for legal employment.

In return, Gen Anupong expressed gratitude to Mrs Sophea and noted the importance of Cambodian workers to the Thai economy. He said Thailand would be willing to support any affairs of the Cambodian embassy as well as any areas of bilateral cooperation, including issues concerning migrant labor. The minister affirmed that the healthy relationship between both nations would be maintained long into the future for the happiness of their peoples.
