Cambodian PM to attend 8th CLV Summit in Laos next week

PHNOM PENH (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen will lead a high delegation to attend the 8th CLV (Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam) Summit on Development Triangle Area slated for Nov. 24 and 25 in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, a statement from the Cambodian foreign ministry said Monday.

The participation is made at the invitation of Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong, the statement said, adding that Hun Sen will be accompanied by Commerce Minister Sun Chanthol, Transport Minister Tram Iv Tek, Education Minister Hang Chuon Naron, and other members of the Cambodian government.

"The summit will review the 7th CLV summit achievements and determine its future direction for further developing the Triangle Area of the three countries," the statement said.

At the end of the summit, the prime ministers of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam will sign a Joint Declaration, it said.

CLV Development Triangle Area plan is aimed at economic growth, poverty reduction, social and cultural progress in the triangle area, which comprises 13 provinces including four in Cambodia, four in Laos, and five in Vietnam.

Geographical provinces of the triangle area are Cambodia's Steng Treng, Rattanakiri, Mondulkiri and Kratie, Laos' Salavan, Sekong, Attapeu and Champasak, and Vietnam's Gialai, Daclac, Dacnong, Kontum, and Binh Phuoc.
