Prominent anti-eviction protest leader among seven arrested in a violent clash

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) – A prominent anti-eviction activist, Tep Vanny, was among seven arrested on Monday morning, following a violent clash in front of Phnom Penh City Hall.
The clash broke out when Daun Penh security guards dispersed the protesters gathering in front of the Phnom Penh City Hall to demand the city hall to address flooding issues in Boeung Kok community where they live.
The protesters were arrested after they blocked Monivong Bldv.
Six others arrestees were identified as Kong Chenda, Phan Chhunreth, Bo Chorvey, Nheth Chhun, and Song Sreyleap.
"Flooding has been last a long time ago, but neither government nor authority help to deal with the flood," one of the protesters, Chea Sophat, said before the clash.
