Police hunt for more people behind a tycoon’s death


PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Phnom Penh police are hunting for another four suspects for being behind the assassination of tycoon Ung Meng Cheu who was gunned down on November 22 in Chamkar Morn district. 

The four are identified as Duong Thavry, first wife of fugitive tycoon Thong Sarath, and accomplices, Tang Sok, Sok Kheng and Sok Lay. They have been suspected of planning Ung Meng Cheu's killing. 

Phnom Penh Municipal Court finished questioning eight people suspected in the killing of Ung Meng Cheu on Sunday. 

Thong Sarath's father, Thong Chamroeun and mother, Keo Sary, were charged with disturbing police's investigation and possessing illegal weapon.

While four bodyguards, Seang Veasna, gunman, Ly Sao, gateway motorcycle driver, and Meas Sambath and Koy Chanthol, accomplices of Thong Sarath, were charged with intentional killing and conspiracy. 

According to article 200 and29 of Criminal Codes, the accused can face life imprisonment if they are found guilty.
