According to unofficial source, Van Sam Oeun originally joined the opposition party (Sam Rainsy Party?) . At the time, he boasted to Hun Sen that he is highly-educated and promised Hun Sen that he can make Washing State to be CPP-aligned, so Hun Sen promised to give him an important position within the government. But after Hun Sen's thorough investigation, he found out that Van Sam Oeun is just an ordinary person, so Hun Sen removed him from the position.
Van Sam Oeun then re-joined the opposition party, but then he was kicked out from the opposition party a second time.
