In this photo by Heng Sinith, a woman dries chili pepper on the ground near the Mekong River in Cambodia, where the three-month harvest season started in February. The people in Russey Chroy village, north of the capital Phnom Penh, harvest the peppers and dry them under the sun before selling them for about $1.50 per kilogram. The tons of dry chili peppers harvested by several thousand villagers in the area are sold locally or transported to be sold in neighboring Thailand. The crop is traditionally their main income, though the villagers also fish and plant rice and other crops.
