One of Angkor Sangkran's gates catches fire amid designing style criticism

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- One of Angkor Sankran's welcome gates in Kor Chork commune of Siem Reap town was burned today early morning. Authorities are investigating over the case.

The fire started at around 1:00 a.m on Tuesday and was completely put out at 2:00 a.m, according to local citizens.

Fire happened after the public, especially Facebook users criticized the gates' designing style, stating that Vietnamese and Chinese styles have been used for the gates.

But event organizers denied the accusation.

Following strong criticism from public, Prime Minister Hun Sen's son Hun Many, President of Union of Youth Federation of Cambodia visited the construction site of Angkor Sankran event.

He said that his working group would try to improve the gate design to avoid being disliked by any group of Cambodians.
